Day 5: Sudama Brahmana

Sudama, a poor Brahmana and childhood friend of Krishna, lived in great poverty but was rich in devotion.

One day, urged by his wife, he went to Dwaraka to meet Krishna, carrying just a small bundle of chipped rice.

Though hesitant and shy, Sudama entered Krishna’s palace, where the Lord ran to embrace him with tears of joy.

Krishna washed his feet with love, seated him with honor, and personally served him like a king.

Seeing the humble gift of chipped rice, Krishna accepted it with great delight—tasting it as the sweetest offering.

Sudama said nothing about his poverty, but Krishna knew his heart.

After spending time with the Lord, Sudama returned home, feeling spiritually full.

To his surprise, his hut had transformed into a grand palace—his needs were fulfilled without asking.

Krishna gave him everything, not for the rice, but for the love it carried.

This story shows that Krishna values devotion far more than material offerings.
