Gaura Purnima is a celebration of the advent of the Kaliyuga avatar, Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu, who is the most munificent form of the Lord. He appeared on the full moon day in the month of Phalguna in the year 1486 AD at Sridham Mayapura to parents Sri Jagannath Mishra and Srimati Sachidevi. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is Krishna Himself, but in the mood of Srimati Radharani.
Mahaprabhu’s mission was to establish the Kaliyuga dharma, the Harinam Sankirtan, by which the most fallen souls of this age can easily attain Love of Godhead. This joyful chanting and dancing of the Holy names of the Lord does not require any prerequisites, it can be done by anyone and everyone without any barriers.
Simply by chanting the Holy Name of the Lord Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare / Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare, one can immediately transcend the negative influence of this dark age and experience the higher taste.
